http://brainz.org/the-10-greatest-fantasy-series-all-time/ I concur. And I love the addition of Robin Hobb, who I think is greatly underrated.

If you're wondering why some of us, me included, have lost our senses and gone over the hill regarding the prospect of seeing A Game of Thrones, and then hopefully all of A Song of Ice and Fire on HBO, here's a fabulous article explaining our madness.

I've been re-reading GoT because I'm so excited about the filming for HBO my head is there anyway (will I even be able to write NaNoWriMo???).

Anyway, just an observation. Slightly but not really tellingly spoilery.

I didn't remember that Jon and Tyrion parted as really fairly good friends. Given what happens afterwards, and who instigates it, I doubt that would change. Anyone with thoughts regarding that?

Certainly there are lots of reasons they would strike up a friendship. Outcasts both, seen as less than they are by the majority of people, both intelligent and brave. Interesting. They don't run into each other again yet... Maybe in Dance with Dragons...

“There’s a sensibility that’s common to most of the great HBO dramas, which is that they take a sort of existing popular genre and do something to it that hasn’t been done before… And what you have in A Game of Thrones is this fantasy saga that is treated with a very kind of adult, very sophisticated psychological realism that you don’t generally have in that genre.”

From latest article mentioning how the nerdosphere is going crazy over HBO #gameofthrones.
