Thanksgiving Game Plan

  Am cooking for 10.  Argh.  I suppose this is payback.....

Back when I was single and in the Air Force and stationed away from home and couldn't get home for Thanksgiving, friends and I began the tradition of finding anyone in the same boat and collecting them and cooking together for a nice homecooked meal.

After Jim and I got together, we more or less did the same thing.  Had all the single friends without families to go to over for T day.

Now the kid and grandkids are inviting their single friends who don't have family and thus I'm cooking for 10.  Paybacks are a bitch ;)  Well, at least the kid is cooking the turkey.

Only real complaint is we have to eat at 1130 so I'll be rushing around to get things done.

Game Plan:

Today:

make cranberry sauce.  easy easy thing to do and so much better than the canned crap. It just takes a little time.

brown sausage, cut up veggies and bag them for the stuffing.  (crockpot stuffing recipe so I'll just have to put it in to cook in morning)

gather all spices and ingredients for the rest of it:  turkey gravy, cheese and garlic mashed potatoes, and bread pudding.

Tomorrow.

Crockpots going - one for dressing, one for bread pudding

Jim will cook the Ham on the grill outside since it is too damn warm to heat up house.

wait til last minute to do potatoes and gravy.

wait for kids to arrive as they always get here late

eat, send them on their way.

turn on the Saints/Cowboys game.
