Land Yacht Soon to Launch

Looks like we will be heading out on our first adventure with the RV on Sunday morning. A few things still to do. Like a few more things to go in the freezer, in the refrigerator.  Also need to load a few chairs (zero gravity lounge chairs).

Jim saw his doc on Thursday about his surgery. Doc approved travel plans but wants Jim to stop after every hour or so to take a break and walk around. We’ll see how well Jim listens….

I’ll be driving the Toaster (slang for a Scion xB which looks like one). We are supposed to pick up a dolly in North Carolina and then can tow the Toaster, at which point it becomes a Toad rather than a Toaster.  (Toad = RV speak for vehicles towed behind motor homes.)

At this point we plan to stop inside Florida, somewhere near Jacksonville. That’ll be six hours, and long enough for Jim to drive the beast. Next stop after that will be South Carolina near Santee Lakes.  Then we should arrive in North Carolina the next day, if all goes well.

I’ll try to do updates fairly frequently. Have smart phones and will take laptops along. Most RV campgrounds have wifi these days so hopefully I’ll get on line fairly frequently.

Freezer. Goodness gracious. How the other half lives. My last actual proper one had a tiny fridge (that was the one I had to sell because I couldn't afford the fuel - about £1 for every 4 miles and that was before the recent price increases)

first camping device we ever owned with a freezer. Tent, popup, trailer, none had one. It's small, but oh so nice to have!

To be fair, I do have a tiny little fridge (just big enough for some beer and the milk) in the minibus but at present it runs off the battery that starts the engine which is Not A Good Thing. A few tweaks needed before we set off for a long session.
